Hot Take Beer Review: Rising Tide Brewing Company - Zephyr

Zephyr (n)—a westerly breeze or wind, considered by many to be the fairest of wind direction
Heady like the sweet breath of Zephyrus, our India pale ale is redolent of citrus, apples, and pears, balanced by a touch of caramel. We use malted barley grown by local farmers and add a special blend of Cascade, Centennial, and Calypso hops to create this juicy, hoppy ale.

There is a really nice hop nose to this beer, all the stereotypical citrus flavors of a classic American IPA. In addition to all those grapefruit, orange, and lime scents, there is a slightly piercing lemon aroma. It isn’t quite to the level of household cleaner, but it is a little out of balance. The beer has a decent malt backbone and is able to carry the hop content very well. The finish is exceptionally clean, which leads to an insanely drinkable beer. I also like how there is a nice bitterness present. Everything that is happening in this beer is enjoyable, which is expected with a hop bill consisting of Cascade, Centennial, and Calypso, a veritable who’s who of Tim’s favorite hops. Overall, a drinkable, nicely balanced IPA, check it out for yourself!
